Destination Wedding

By Deanna L. Sletten

In “Destination Wedding”, we meet Claire Martin as she prepares for her daughter’s upcoming wedding in the Caribbean Islands.  The idea of spending an entire week with her ex-husband, his new wife and her daughter’s future in-laws raises caution to the week ahead.  Not to mention that she has to leave her successful boutique business in someone’s hands.  Claire’s escape from Minnesota’s chilly weather heats up even more she’s given an impromptu marriage proposal the night before she leaves town.  Filled with anxiety and feigned cheerfulness, Claire boards the plane hoping to avoid running into her ex-husband.  Jim sits on the plane, headed to his only child’s wedding while contemplating the disastrous life he has created for himself. He sits, hoping to catch a stolen glimpse of his ex-wife, Claire.

Ms. Sletten demonstrates her power as a novelist in this tantalizing romance that kept me interested and wanting more to the very end.  Three chapters into the story, I felt a strong connection with the characters and their island journey. The Caribbean setting is brimming with beauty and sprinkled with glamour.  I recommend this novel for an easy-going summer read, just right for beach time relaxation.
